Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai has fired back at Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale over his claim that President William Ruto will have it rough in the 2027 presidential election race.

Taking to his social media pages on Sunday, October 26, 2025, Khalwale claimed that President Ruto’s re-election bid will not be a walk in the park in 2027 if he continues to seek advice from the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi. The legislator said the Malava by-election should not make Ruto look down upon leaders from the region, as he will need them in his re-election ambitions in the area.

On his part, Robert Alai rubbished the claims, saying that Khalwale has no influence to threaten Ruto in the 2027 presidential polls. Bwana Senate is a seat given to miserable losers as a consolation.

”Stop threatening Ruto. You don’t have the standing to threaten Ruto. Even MCA is way more popular than you, Boni Khalwale,” Alai took to X on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

Khalwale warns Ruto

Khalwale was speaking ahead of the Malava Constituency by-election, where DAP-K candidate Seth Panyako will face off against David Ndakwa of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) on November 27, 2025, triggered by the death of the previous MP, Malulu Injendi, in February 2025.

Khalwale has also added that Kakamega residents deserve a share of the national cake because they contributed to making Ruto the president in 2022.

”The development we are asking for is not because of the by-election; it is because we are demanding a payback for voting for the president. Whether we vote for our candidate or yours, Your Excellency, it is we who you will run to in 2027 when things get thick,” Khalwale said in a video posted on his social media pages on Sunday, October 26, 2025.

”Someone advising you to belittle Panyako, Khalwale… President Ruto, let me tell you, 2027 will be tough. That is when you will realise that here in Kakamega, you need Khalwale to succeed; that is when you will know that in Kakamega, you need Seth Panyako to succeed. That Mudavadi, who is misleading you, claiming to be influential in Kakamega, let his influence start in Vihiga,” Khalwale added.
