Alai calls for seizure of Sifuna’s official ODM car
By Kenneth Mwenda, March 29, 2026Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly Robert Alai has urged the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) to seize the official car being used by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, accusing him of openly defying party leadership while still enjoying its privileges.
Taking to his official X account on Sunday, March 29, 2026, Alai said that ODM youth must act and reclaim party property.
“ODM Security should be sent to seize the official car Sifuna is using and bring it to the party headquarters. How do you insult, mock and belittle the party leader and still sit there enjoying party trappings of power? Don’t we have an ODM security team? ODM youth must pounce on these fools and get back party property,” Alai said.

Alai’s remarks come amid growing tension within ODM, with Sifuna openly challenging the authority of Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga, the party’s current leader. Speaking at a Linda Mwananchi rally in Mombasa the same day, Sifuna said he could not serve as party secretary-general under what he described as “mediocrity.”
“Siwezi kuwa secretary general wa mediocrity. Mnajua mediocrity ni nini? Siwezi fanya kazi na Raila Odinga kwa zaidi ya miaka tisa alafu nifanye kazi na mtu kama Oburu,” Sifuna told supporters.

According to him, the leadership under Oburu Odinga fails to meet the standards set by ODM founder Raila Odinga.
Focus should have been removal
Alai also claimed that the Special National Delegates Conference (NDC) held recently should have focused solely on Sifuna’s removal as secretary-general. Instead, he argued, the senator continues to act with impunity while using official party resources.
“Edwin Sifuna is still on the rooftop of ODM SG’s official Prado KCW, and he is using the vehicle to insult Oburu, Junet, and Wanga while they look from the sidelines scared of him,” Alai wrote.
He warned that the party’s internal wrangles could harm President William Ruto’s 2027 re-election campaign.
“The leadership of ODM will destroy President Ruto’s campaign,” Alai added, arguing that the failure to discipline Sifuna has emboldened factions and exposed cracks within the party.
