Activist in court to stop DPP workshop for editors

By , November 17, 2021

A planned media workshop for editors organised by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji was yesterday challenged in court.\

Under a Certificate of Urgency, activist Memba Ocharo wants the High Court to stop the DPP from hosting the journalists at a Mombasa hotel using
public funds.

Ocharo argues that Haji had secretly organised a media engagement starting tomorrow (Thursday) to influence them not to cover the four petitions pending at the Public Service Commission seeking his removal over allegations of gross misconduct.

He questions the source of funds that the DPP will spend on the editors during the period they will be at the Coast area.

He wants the court to stop the planned meeting and order for an enquiry on the intended meetings between the DPP and the editors.

“The court to issue orders aimed at preserving the integrity of the office of the DPP,” Ocharo says.
