Aden Duale and Soipan Tuya have officially assumed their roles as Envirironmnt and Defence CS respectively.
Duale, formerly the CS for Defence, has taken over the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, while Soipan Tuya traded in her eco-warrior boots to assume the role of Defence CS.
The handover ceremony took place on Monday, August 12, 2024, marking the beginning of a new chapter for both leaders.
At Ulinzi House, the headquarters of the Defence Ministry, Aden Duale handed over the reins to Soipan Tuya. The event was attended by key officials, including the Chief of Defence Forces, General Charles Kahariri, and Principal Secretary Patrick Mariru.
He expressed pride in the progress made under his leadership noting that Tuya would bring a whole new perspective to the ministry.
“This morning, I handed over the Ministry of Defence to Hon. Soipan Tuya at Ulinzi House, Nairobi, with Chief of Defence Forces General Charles Kahariri and Principal Secretary Patrick Mariru in attendance. Reflecting on my tenure as Defence Cabinet Secretary, I feel immense pride in the progress we made, from enhancing our operational readiness to forging key partnerships,” he declared.
“Hon. Soipan Tuya, a leader with vast experience, will bring fresh perspectives to the role. I am confident she will address the challenges ahead with dedication and skill. I extend my full support to her and wish her every success in this critical role.”
On her part, Soipan Tuya expressed gratitude and readiness to take on her new role.
“Took over the Defence docket mantle from Waziri Aden Duale this morning at Defence HQ, Nairobi,” Tuya stated.
