Rutto appointed to General Council of the World Chambers Federation
Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) President Erick Rutto has been appointed to the General Council of the World Chambers Federation (WCF) for three years.
In a statement on Tuesday, July 1, KNCCI stated that Rutto is among a distinguished group of global business leaders representing key regions worldwide, including Africa, the Americas, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Middle East.
“We are proud to share that KNCCI Chamber President, Dr. Erick Rutto, has been appointed to the General Council of the World Chambers Federation (WCF) for the 2025–2028 term,” read the statement.
Speaking about his appointment, Rutto described it as a proud moment for Kenya and Africa at large.
“This is a proud moment for KNCCI and a recognition of Africa’s growing influence in shaping global trade and investment. I look forward to working with fellow council members to champion the African voice, strengthen collaboration, and promote the benefits of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) on the world stage to investors willing to invest and trade in the continent,” Rutto said.

“I look forward to working alongside fellow council members to champion the African voice, drive stronger collaboration, and contribute to solutions with greater impact for businesses worldwide,” he added.
On his part, ICC World Chambers Federation Chairperson Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu expressed his commitment to working with Rutto.
“This year’s election reflects the strength and diversity of our global chamber community. I’m proud to welcome such a high-calibre group to our Council and Executive Committee, and I look forward to working together to make WCF more inclusive, representative, and impactful than ever before,” he said.
His appointment follows Kenya’s successful hosting of the first-ever WCF Congress in Africa earlier this year—a historic milestone that underscored the continent’s rising role in global commerce.
The World Chambers Federation, a global body affiliated with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), plays a pivotal role in advancing the interests of chambers of commerce worldwide and shaping inclusive, sustainable global trade policies.
