Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on Monday, November 24
By Faith Lagat, November 23, 2025Kenya Power has confirmed planned power interruptions in several parts of the country on Monday, November 24, 2025, citing routine maintenance works aimed at improving service reliability.
The utility shared the announcement via its official X account on November 23, 2025, providing a detailed list of affected areas and timings. Residents and businesses are advised to make necessary preparations ahead of the disruptions.
North Rift region
Parts of Nandi County in the North Rift Region will experience an eight-hour blackout.
According to the notice, the affected area is Emrok, where electricity supply will be interrupted from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Kenya Power specified that “Emrok Tea Factory, Kamalel Primary School & adjacent customers” will be without power during the maintenance period.

The announcement highlights the importance of planning ahead for households and businesses that rely heavily on electricity for daily activities, especially small-scale enterprises and institutions that may be impacted by the full-day outage.
South Nyanza Region
In Kisii County, parts of the South Nyanza Region will also face power interruptions on Monday. Kenya Power listed Botori Market and Gesero as the main affected zones.

The detailed statement reads: “Oigara, Botori Mkt, Botori Secondary School, Gesero Secondary School, Iyabe Hospital, Misesi, Sigisi, Mwata, Erina Market, Misisita, Nyachenge Market, St. Reuben’s School & adjacent customers” will all be impacted between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Residents in these areas are urged to plan around the blackout, particularly in managing household chores, refrigeration needs, and business operations that depend on an uninterrupted electricity supply.
Multiple areas in Nyeri to experience interruptions
The Mt. Kenya Region will see two separate areas in Nyeri County affected by the scheduled outages. Around Ragati Tea Factory, power supply will be suspended from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting “Ragati T/Fact, Gatei TBC, Gatei Mkt, Ragati Forest Stn, Safaricom Boosters, Airtel Boosters & adjacent customers.”
Another section centered around Kanyagia Market will experience the same disruption, impacting “Kanyagia Mkt, Kieni Diary, Demka Diary, Solio Ranch, Solio Water Pump, Solio Lodge, Solio Cattle Dip, Solio Village & adjacent customers.”
Kenya Power emphasised that all areas are expected to have electricity restored by 5:00 p.m., barring unforeseen technical challenges.
Scheduled blackouts like these are essential for maintaining the integrity of the power network. However, they remain a challenge for households and businesses that depend on consistent electricity.
