‘I will be pursuing legal means’ – Kidero disputes Homabay gubernatorial results

Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has disputed the final results of the Homabay elections.
Speaking on Friday, August 12, Kidero who was seeking the position on an independent ticket took issue with the results after Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Gladys Wanga floored him.
“It is unbelievable that armed gangs could invade polling stations to flash off our agents, beat them up in the full glare of security officers and leave at their own pleasure without any action from security enforcers.
“Elections are generally meant to allow the people to democratically choose their leaders to exercise authority on their behalf for some time as enshrined in the constitution. I am particularly disappointed to see the will of the people of Homa Bay being thwarted with impunity yet again,” he added.
While assuring his supporters that he will be pursuing a legal means to dispute the elections, Kidero called on his supporters to maintain peace.
Wanga was declared the winner by the Homa bay county returning officer on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at around 3:00 am.
She trounced Kidero by 90,377 votes having scooped 244,599 votes against her archrival who had 154,182 votes.
