Raila vows to digitise police operations

The Azimio coalition has vowed to create a citizenry owned security approach that seeks to redress local boundary conflicts.

It also seeks to regulate private security companies to enable integration with the State security organs.

Should the Raila Odinga-led coalition form the next government, the criminal justice system capabilities will be enhanced through the adoption of Virtual Police Stations (VPS), an innovative technology that would be developed specifically to digitise police operations enabling digital capture of occurrences, manage traffic offences, book arrests and process evidence.

Regarding police reforms, the coalition said they will fast track the implementation of reforms to enhance the performance and service orientation of the National Police Service through the adoption of Key Performance Indicators.

It also promises to increase investment to strengthen the national cybersecurity capabilities to address the online and digital economy,
