MCK: Raila enjoys highest media coverage compared to Ruto
The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has revealed that Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Alliance presidential flagbearer Raila Odinga has received the highest media coverage so far.
The report released on Friday, June 24, shows that the former premier was ahead of his main challenger, Deputy President William Ruto with 61.2 per cent, while Ruto enjoyed 38.2 per cent.
The data collected between April and early June also showed that Roots party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah and his running mate enjoyed 0.54 per cent whereas the Agano party’s David Mwaure had 0.02 per cent.

Raila and other leading contenders get 96% coverage
Further, the report disclosed that for the past two months, the four presidential candidates cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) have enjoyed 96 per cent mentions across the media.
“The four candidates who secured clearance for the presidential August polls had an overall 96 per cent mentions in the media between April and June 6, 2022,” the report reads in parts.
At the same time, the report disclosed that the media focused on all 17 presidential aspirants before the electoral body slashed the list to four candidates.
Similarly, the report mentioned that Azimio’s running mate Martha Karua received more coverage compared to her competitors.
Martha enjoyed 78 per cent coverage, Kenya Kwanza’s Rigathi Gachagua had 20.9 per cent, Justina Wamae 0.22 per cent and Ruth Mutua had zero per cent coverage.
