Matiang’i’s response to our concerns is to be pitied – Mudavadi
Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i’s response to Kenya Kwanza’s concerns on the August 9 elections is to be pitied, Amani National Congress Party leader Musalia Mudavadi now says.
On Thursday, August 4, 2022, Deputy President William Ruto alleged that the government is determined to ensure he loses the polls that are slated for Tuesday next week.
In a press conference, Ruto who is the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) flagbearer claimed the government has been using state officers to strategize on his failure.
But in a quick rejoinder, Matiang’i today, August 5, 2022, dared the Second in Command to substantiate his claims by tabling evidence that the government that is led by President Uhuru Kenyatta are plotting to interfere with the elections to his disadvantage.
Matiang’i termed Ruto’s claims that the government is planning violence and incitement as pity stating that his assertions were serious matters that should not be taken lightly.
Matiang’i further took issue with Ruto for allegedly profiling government officials who are mandated with providing security in the country.
But hours after firing at Ruto, Mudavadi took to his Facebook where he castigated the CS interior for allegedly being ignorant.
Mudavadi seemingly sought to educate Matiang’i by stating that the government and individuals in it are different entities.
“Fred Matiang’i’s reply to concerns on ploys to mess up elections is to be pitied. Individuals in Government and Government are two different entities. I thought he would know,” said Mudavadi in a section of his post.
“What do you call it when the people in charge of internal security plead ignorance on happenings that are of great significance to national security?” asked Mudavadi who has been promised a high-profile position in the Kenya Kwanza government should Ruto beat his three rivals in the upcoming polls.
The heated exchanges by the national figures happened only three days before the election that started to generate heat between various political divides.
