Joshua Kutuny comes distant 3rd in Cherang’any MP race
Cherang’any constituency Member of Parliament Joshua Kutuny has lost his seat to Patrick Simiyu of the Democratic Action Party of Kenya DAP-K who managed 26,748 votes in the just concluded election.
Kutuny who is also Jubilee party deputy Secretary General got 5,312 behind United Democratic Alliance UDA’s Wesley Korir who got 26,078 votes in the hotly contested race.
The results were declared by the Constituency Returning officer Selly Chesano.
In his acceptance speech, Simiyu said his victory came as a struggle and asked his competitors to accept the election results.
“It was not an easy race, I ask my competitors to accept the results. I also appreciate IEBC for being fair to all of us” he said.
Simiyu who also serves as DAP-K secretary general in Trans Nzoia said he will unite all the ethnic communities living in Cherang’any.
“I am sure I won because all the communities living in Cherang’any. I will reciprocate by serving them and uniting them all” he said.
Earlier before the results were declared, the incumbent MP Joshua Kutuny conceded defeat and congratulated Simiyu.
In a tweet, Kutuny urged his successor to diligently serve the people of Cherang’any constituency and deliver on his campaign manifesto.

Wesley Korir called on his supporters to maintain peace and said he will follow due process.
“Let peace prevail. We will follow the due process,” Korir posted.
