It is understood as a taboo to talk about death but, no matter how masterfully the society manages information about bereavement, a polite reminder is that: You’re a ‘piece of clay’. A mortal being bound to die.

A new study has showed that human bodies can move on their own even after death.

The researchers were investigating how the body rots after a natural death and found that human remains gradually change thier positions.

The research lead by Alyson Wilson from Central Queensland University in Austraria has demystified the common belief that a human body remains stationary after death.

The researchers linked the movements to the decomposition process where the body ligaments dry.

“We think the movements relate to the process of decomposition, as the body mummifies and the ligaments dry out,” Wilson was quoted from an interview with Agence France Presse(AFP).

The researchers put the body under study free from scavengers and other organisms that consume rotting flesh to ensure accuracy of the study.

Information on the behavior of human remains is important in investigating murder crimes.

“Such a study as the above can help forensic investigators determine time and place of death thus making narrower deductions in crime investigations” Said Wilson.
