Eight lawmakers from Western Kenya allied to Deputy President William Ruto have lashed out at the leaders who led a delegation of leaders from the region to the home of Kanu party chairman Gideon Moi in Kabarak.

They accused Cotu boss Francis Atwoli, Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who were in the delegation of being a sale out to the luhya community’s 2022 quest for state house.

The MPs were Benjamin Washiali (Mumias East), Mwambu Mabongah (Bumula), Didmus Barasa (Kimilili), Fred Kapondi (Mt Elgon), Malulu Injendi (Malava), Dan Wanyama (Webuye west), and Murunga (Matungu).

They spoke at the home of Mabonga in Muyenga village, Bumula Constituency where they had gathered to offer thanksgiving prayers after the MP narrowly escaped an accident last month at Timboroa along the Eldoret-Nakuru highway.

General elections

The move comes after Oparanya, Atwoli and Eugene visited Gideon to assure him of their support ahead of the 2022 general elections.

Gideon has embarked on marshalling his troops and solidifying his grassroots support in Western ahead of forthcoming general elections.

Speaking at the event, Washiali said that the leaders who had taken the community to Baringo senator’s home had embarrassed the Mulembe Nation.

“Our brothers have ridiculed and ashamed our community as Mulembe Nation by carrying a delegation to Moi to unveil a portrait without having an agenda for our people what does it mean,” he said.
