Narok County Senator Ledama Olekina has warned politicians engaging in 2027 campaigns to go slow.

Taking to his official X account on Sunday, January 26, 2024, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmaker argued that the political leaders that have since kicked early 2027 campaigns are just wasting their time.

According to Ledama, something in Kenya’s murky politics is cooking, and will get many politicians by shock.

He went ahead to state that if he was the one engaging in early campaigns, he would rather choose to shut up at the moment.

“You guys are wasting your time campaigning for 2027, you have no idea what’s cooking … if I were you, I would just shut up!” Ledama wrote on X.

However, the lawmaker did not give any hint on the political shocker that is cooking ahead of the 2027 General Election.

2027 campaigns

Several political leaders have been holding meetings to strategize ahead of the 2027 General Election.

For instance, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua who will in February 2025 unveil the People’s Liberation Party (PLP) as his political vehicle, have agreed to work together ahead of 2027.

The agreement follows Gachagua’s visit to Karua’s rural home in Kimunye, Kirinyaga county on Saturday, January 25, 2025, during which the two leaders chose to set their political differences aside, signalling a possible alliance.

President William Ruto and his allies have, on the other hand, been crisscrossing the country telling off the Kenya Kwanza administration critics who have been saying that the head of state will be a one-term president.

During his just concluded development tour of the Western region, President Ruto attacked Gachagua severally, affirming that no one will defeat him if the likes of his former DP and Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka are the competitors he will face in 2027.

His allies have also maintained that Ruto will go nowhere come 2027, with some arguing that they will do everything possible to ensure that he secures a second term.
