Two Kenyans evacuated from raging California fires
At least two Kenyans families have been evacuated from their homes due to the wildfires currently ravaging Southern California, United States, the Kenyan Consulate in Los Angeles announced yesterday.
Consul General Ezra Chiloba however cautioned Kenyans living in Los Angeles to remain vigilant as well as follow evacuation instructions promptly.
“Monitor updates from local authorities, follow evacuation instructions promptly, and prioritize your safety,” Chiloba said in a statement.
Chiloba said the fires, currently razing parts of Southern California have forced the evacuation of thousands of residents, with significant risks to lives and property due to strong winds and dry conditions.
“We take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt appreciation to members of our community who have opened their homes to accommodate evacuees in need. Your generosity and solidarity exemplify the strength of our diaspora,” Chiloba said.
Meanwhile, President William Ruto has condoled with families who have lost loved ones and those who have suffered losses during the devastating fires.
