Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma has slammed Kenyans who have been criticizing President William Ruto over his leadership flaws.

Kaluma in a statement shared via his official X account on Sunday, December 1, 2024, told Ruto’s critics that he would not help them hate the head of state.

According to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmaker, most of Ruto’s critics are those who willingly voted for him, and have now turned against him for failing to heed to their demand of having other Kenyans excluded and discriminated.

Kaluma argues that the government is big enough for all Kenyans, and that no one should be discriminated at the expense of others.

“Your enemy does not have to be our enemy. We will not help you to hate the leader you voted for simply because he has refused to accept your condition that he must exclude and discriminate fellow Kenyans from public service and national resources. The Government of Kenya is big enough for all of us. Tufinyane ndani kwa pole,” Kaluma stated.

Kaluma’s admiration for Ruto

Kaluma has been defending President Ruto since Raila Odinga led the ODM side to the broad-based government.

On Saturday, November 16, 2024, the lawmaker expressed his admiration for President Ruto, saying that it is hard to hate the Head of State.

Kaluma’s sentiment came at a time when the Kenya Kwanza administration is under immense criticism.

“It is difficult to hate,” Kaluma said in a statement on his X account.

Kaluma’s post was accompanied by a video of the president addressing the public in Embu during Bishop Peter Kimani’s consecration.

Ruto acknowledged receiving the criticism directed at him by the clergy.
