The North Rift chapter of the Young Quakers Christian Association Africa (YQCAA) has issued a warning against fraudsters conning unsuspecting members of the church by purporting to be in a position to help them get visas to travel abroad.

The association’s secretary, Violate Muremi, has warned would-be victims against falling for the scheme that comes with an alleged guarantee of getting a visa. She noted that fraudsters were moving around various Quaker churches in the region with their target, being the youths, purporting to be able to guarantee visa issuance to them at a fee.

Speaking to the media in Eldoret town yesterday, Muremi said the fraudsters were taking advantage of a youth conference scheduled to be held in Jinja, Uganda in December.

The two-day conference will draw participants from across the African continent. The secretary has consequently asked church youths, parents and guardians to avoid people claiming to be in a position to guarantee the issuance of the prized document.

She further asked them to be on high alert and report such people to the nearest police station.

“Kindly exercise diligence and avoid people posing as members of Quaker church who claim to be able to facilitate visa issuance since it is non-existent,” stated Muremi.
