The 52nd edition of the Africa Concours d’Elegance, set for Sunday, September 29, will showcase an impressive array of classic and vintage cars and motorcycles at the Nairobi Racecourse.

Organized by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club, this prestigious event has attracted a maximum entry of 70 cars and 40 motorcycles, solidifying its position as a highlight in Kenya’s motorsport calendar.

Competitors from across the region are gearing up for the show, with Uganda leading the international entries with 19 vehicles, and Rwanda and Zimbabwe contributing two entries each.

The competition will see vehicles and motorcycles judged under regulations sanctioned by the Kenya Motor Sports Federation and the Motorcycle Sports Federation of Kenya, as well as the African body, FIM-Africa.

Among the latest entries is a 2015 Royal Enfield Bullet Classic with a sidecar, owned by Mombasa-based motorcycle enthusiast Moosa Khan, who will be making his debut in the competition.

Similarly, joining the motorcycle competition is lady rider Wamuyu Kariuki with a 2017 Royal Enfield Bullet, and her husband, Dos Kariuki, riding a 2011 LML Star Deluxe.

The car lineup promises fierce competition, particularly in the 1301cc-1600cc touring car class. Notable contenders include Sati Gata-Aura’s 1977 Nissan 160J, Thomas Frowein’s 1968 Saab 96, and Tutu Maina’s 1961 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia.

Aside from individual class awards, the event will also recognize overall winners and newcomers, as well as machines making their debut at the Racecourse.

Special prizes will be handed out for meritorious performances, team entries, and the best-dressed participants, adding to the spectacle.

Spectators will enjoy more than just the vehicle displays.

A fashion show by Ascili Fashion House models will take center stage, offering surprise prizes to the best-dressed lady and gentleman among the audience.

The Auto Expo will feature 28 motor trade stands, showcasing the latest in automotive products, while the Heritage Collection will display vintage equipment and machinery from a bygone era.
