President William Ruto has pledged Ksh10 million to Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF PL) newbies Nairobi United FC’

The Head of State has promised to support the club’s growth as they prepare for their debut in Kenya’s top league.

Speaking at State House on Thursday, July 10, 2025, during a meeting with the team, Ruto said he would invest Ksh2 million in each of the club’s five groups.

“Huyo jamaa alisema niwe investor kwa group zenu tano. Lakini hamjanipatia investment plan. Basi nitatafuta million kumi niweke kwa iyo biashara. Million mbili mbili kwa kila group. Lakini, please, dividends ni lazima, tusije tukakosana,” he said.

Adding;

“Waeleze vizuri, na niko na askari wengi; naweza kuwaletea noma sana. Nitafanya ivo, alafu tutapangana.”

Loosely traslated as;

“That guy told me to become an investor in your five groups. But you haven’t given me an investment plan. So I will find ten million shillings and put it into the business – two million for each group. But please, dividends are a must. Let’s not fight later. Tell them properly: I have many police officers. I can bring you serious trouble if you cross me!”

In addition to the financial boost, President Ruto also promised to donate a team bus to Nairobi United after a request from club patron and owner Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja.

“Mimi ni mfugaji wa kuku; ni biashara mzuri sana. Iko na pesa, by the way; naweza wapeeni tips. Nitaangalia iyo biashara na mtapata bus,” the head of state said.

Loosely traslated as;

“I’m a chicken farmer; it is a very good business. It has money, by the way. I can give you tips. I will look into that business idea and you’ll get the bus.”

President Ruto praised Nairobi United for their achievement in winning the 2025 FKF Cup and said the government was keen on empowering youth through sports.

“Young people are our country’s greatest resource. That is why we are intentionally putting more resources into the education and training of our youth to build and productively exploit their talents to drive our economic growth,” a statement shared on the President’s official X account read.
