Kenyan champions Gor Mahia are in Pot One ahead of the Champions League draw, which is slated for Cairo on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 3:00 p.m.

Last year, Gor Mahia FC were kicked out of the CAF Champions League for failing to meet CAF Club Licensing Rules.

Gor Mahia’s issues

The continent’s football governing body ordered the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) to revoke Gor’s license after failing to pay one of their former players.

They are now back in the tournament and are in the same pot alongside East African teams Vital’o FC, SC Villa Jogoo, Azam FC, El Merreikh, Juba, Dekadaha FC, APR FC, Commercial Bank, and Arta Solar7.

The draw of the Preliminary Stage of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League and TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup officially marks the start of what promises to be another exciting season of premium African club football.

For the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, a total of 59 clubs will be engaged from 47 African countries, while the CAF Confederation Cup will also have 52 clubs representing 41 countries, with Kenya Police in Pot 2.
