KCB volleyball ladies stun Kenya Prisons in KVF league clash
Kenya Volleyball Federation National League defending champions KCB were forced to fight hard to secure a 3-2 victory against Kenya Prisons during the fourth leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) matches at the Kasarani Indoor Arena.
The Lionesses faced a tough time in the first set, trailing for the better part of the game, only making a comeback to claim a narrow win of 25-21. The Prisons ladies side bounced back in the second and third sets with a 25-21 and 25-26 win, respectively, before the bankers returned the form to claim the fourth set with a 25-20 score line.
In the fifth and decisive set, the Bankers made their intentions known right from the start, dismantling Prisons 15-04 to win the game. The victory extends the Bankers’ unbeaten run to seven matches in the league.
As the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League approaches its climax, KCB will face a fierce battle against its archrivals, Kenya Pipeline, on Sunday in their last game of the regular season. The two teams are tied on 20 points at the top of the league standings.
“We had a tough game today that really tested our limits, but we are happy we managed to bounce back and claim the win. We focus on tomorrow’s game that will determine who finishes on the top of the table as we head into the playoffs.” KCB Captain Edith Wisa noted.
“I am happy for the ladies today. We have a tough match tomorrow against Kenya Pipeline, and it will be a battle of who finishes at the top of the league. Right now, it is about working on the few weaknesses that we had today and concentrating on the game at hand.” Head Coach Japheth Munala said.
