Tusker FC captain Charles Momanyi has committed his future to the Ruaraka-based side, signing a one-year contract extension ahead of the 2025/26 Football Kenya Federation-Premier League (FKF-PL) season.

The experienced central defender, who has anchored the Brewers’ backline since joining, is determined to guide the team to greater heights after a mixed campaign last season.

“Last season was not entirely how we envisioned, but as a leader, we want to do better next season,” Momanyi said.

“It’s an honour to continue this journey with Tusker FC. This club has become home, and I’m proud of what we’ve achieved. I’m even more excited about what lies ahead. I want to thank the management, my teammates, and the fans for their unwavering support.”

Momanyi’s leadership and defensive solidity were evident last term, scoring four goals against Kariobangi Sharks, Ulinzi Stars, Posta Rangers and Shabana FC. He helped Tusker keep 15 clean sheets across 33 appearances, missing only the narrow 2-1 loss to Mathare United in April, and was named the club’s best player for March.

Welcoming the skipper’s new deal, Tusker FC head coach Charles Okere remarked, “Momanyi is more than just a captain; he is a true leader and mentor to the younger players. His presence on and off the pitch is invaluable, and having him stay on is a big boost to our ambitions.”

The renewal comes as Tusker FC aim to rebuild and mount a fresh challenge for the league title. Club CEO Sam Nzau hailed the move as a sign of intent, saying, “Keeping our top players like Momanyi is part of our strategy to build a competitive and sustainable team. His leadership and consistency make him a key pillar in our plans moving forward.”

Brewers now look to bounce back stronger in their quest for FKF-PL success with Momanyi at the heart of their defense once again.
