Here is what you need to know to get up to speed with today’s happenings.

Weatherman

Kenya Meteorological Department issued a forecast for Saturday indicating rain in certain regions of the country.

The weatherman said rainfall is expected over a few areas in the South Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Coast.

The Met department also informed Kenyans that there will be showers over a few places on Saturday morning.

End of water interruption

Today Water should be flowing back in taps across estates in Nairobi following a 2-day interruption.

The Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) on Thursday, March 7, 2024, announced a major supply interruption, affecting nearly all estates.

In a public notice, NCWSC Managing Director Nahason Njuguna attributed the water shutdown to a leak on the pipeline from Ng’ethu Treatment Works to Gigid Pumping Station.

The company said it was shutting down the pipeline from Thursday to Friday to allow engineers to undertake repairs.

The water shutdown affected the entire city except the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) and the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Uhuru Highway

Part of Uhuru Highway in Nairobi County will be closed today.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced a temporary closure of sections of Uhuru Highway for scheduled maintenance work.

In a notice dated March 7, the authority specified that the closure would affect the stretch between Harry Thuku Road and University Way (Mombasa bound).

KeNHA announced that the closure would be effected beginning Friday at 11 pm until Sunday, March 10 at midnight.

Consequently, the road authority advised motorists intending to travel over the weekend to use alternative routes such as the University Way.

“KeNHA wishes to notify the Public that there will be a temporary closure of Uhuru Highway (A8) between Harry Thuku Road and University Way (Mombasa Bound) from 11.00 pm on Friday, March 8, 2024, to Midnight on Sunday, March 10, 2024. This is to allow for highway maintenance works at this section.

“All motorists accessing Uhuru Highway (A8) from Kenyatta Avenue will use alternative routes such as Harry Thuku Road and University Way,” part of the notice read.
