FKF PL top scorers, clean sheet charts: Gor Mahia rule the roost
After week 19 matches in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League, Gor Mahia’s Benson Omala and Kevin Omondi are still in control of the top scorers and clean sheet charts, respectively.
Although Omala has not been able to score in recent games, he still enjoys a considerable gap at the top. Erick Kapaito of Tusker has been lethal in recent games and has done incredibly well to close in on the former Kisumu Day Secondary School star.
Omala, who is looking to win the Golden Boot award this season after missing it by a whisker last season, has nine goals. He is still the main man for Gor Mahia and continues to prove his worth, repaying the trust given by head coach Johnathan McKinstry.
Although Patrick Kaddu and Omala are expected to continue being the main men for McKinstry in the attacking department, the arrival of Sheriff Musa from Bidco United could alter that if the new signing outperforms the duo.
Meanwhile, Boniface Muchiri of Ulinzi Stars, Moses Shummah of Kakamega Homeboyz, Nairobi City Stars’ Vincent Owino, Francis Kahiro of Bandari, and Tito Okello of Kenya Police, along with Kapaito, all have six goals.
It is important to note that Kahiro, who recently joined the Dockers, scored the goals while he was turning out for his former side, KCB FC.
Since he came back to the FKF Premier League, Okello has scored vital goals for Police. He was initially featuring for Gor Mahia before he left the record champions, and, should he continue with his current form, he is destined for a sensational return.
Golden Glove contest
In the Golden Glove contest, Kevin Omondi of Gor Mahia leads with 13. He has been in top form, although the number of clean sheets to his name has been massively aided by a solid back four.
Gor Mahia, the only unbeaten side so far, have conceded the least number of goals – seven – and this points out how good they have been as they aim to defend the title.
Tusker’s Brian Bwire is second with nine clean sheets, the same as Joseph Ochuka of Bandari and Kenya Police’s Patrick Matasi.
John Njau of Posta Rangers has eight, while John Otieno of Bidco United has seven, one more than Murang’a Seals’ Bonphas Munyasa.
