Tusker FC’s striker, Eric Kapaito, has surged in the FKF Premier League’s top scorers chart for the 2023/24 season.

Kapaito, formerly of Kariobangi Sharks, ended his goal drought in mid-December against Bidco United. Since then, he has been in outstanding form, contributing significantly to Tusker FC’s success.

Kapaito’s run

In a remarkable display, Kapaito secured a hat-trick in their impressive victory over KCB Football and added another goal in their 3-1 win against Sofapaka, bringing his tally to six goals in five matches.

This puts him in the company of other top scorers, including Moses Shummah (Kakamega Homeboyz), Boniface Muchiri (Ulinzi), Francis Kahiro (KCB), and Vincent Owino (Nairobi City Stars), all with six goals each.

Meanwhile, the leading scorer, Benson Omalla, has maintained his top position with nine goals. However, he has faced a dry spell, failing to score in the last six matches, with his last goal coming against Kariobangi Sharks in early December (2-1).

Over the weekend, the FKF Premier League featured nine matches, resulting in a total of 17 goals. Notably, nine teams secured clean sheets, and four teams clinched victories with a solitary goal.

Gor Mahia FC continue to dominate the league, maintaining a seven-point lead over second-placed Nairobi City Stars.

The defending champions remain unbeaten, securing a 1-0 win against Kariobangi Sharks and reaching an impressive 40 points from 11 wins and seven draws.

Gor Mahia have maintained an exceptional defensive record, keeping 12 clean sheets in 18 matches, conceding only seven goals and maintaining a clean sheet in the last four games.

Nairobi City Stars are also putting up a strong performance, enjoying a seven-match winning streak and accumulating 33 points from 10 wins, three draws, and five losses. Their last loss occurred on November 11, 2023.

Kapaito’s Tusker

Tusker FC have climbed into the top four, securing their ninth win of the season and extending their unbeaten run to eight matches. Impressively, the last five matches have resulted in victories for Tusker.

Posta Rangers and Bandari share 30 points, while Kakamega Homeboyz and KCB Football are tied at 28 points. Kenya Police follows with 27 points, and Bidco United and Murang’a Seal are level with 24 points, with FC Talanta closely behind with 23 points.
