Gor Mahia will be quite comfortable at the top of the Football Kenya Federation Premier League table after widening the gap to four points following a 2-0 victory over Talanta.

Bonface Omondi and Austin Odhiambo scored for the defending champions at Bukhungu Stadium, and this victory is crucial in their bid to defend the top-flight title.

Omondi scored in the 57th minute to break the deadlock in favour of K’Ogalo just before the second one was registered by the former AFC Leopards midfielder.

Gor Mahia, with the win, are four points ahead of Kakamega homeboyz who lost to AFC Leopards at Nyayo Stadium.

Elsewhere, Ulinzi Stars were stunned by Nairobi City Stars who claimed a 2-1 victory at the Ulinzi Sports Complex. Dennis Owalo and Vincent Owino scored for Simba wa Nairobi while the Soldiers denied their rivals a clean sheet with a goal from Boniface Muchiri.

City Stars go up to the sixth position with 24 points, while Ulinzi Stars are 12th with 17 points.

Posta Rangers, who were impressive in the opening games, were unable to collect points when they were defeated by Muhoroni Youth.

Meanwhile, there was a sigh of relief for Tusker and coach Robert Matano when they saw off Nzoia Sugar by a 2-0 margin at Sudi Stadium.

Finally, Kariobangi Sharks and Bidco United game ended in a goalless draw. The result means Ezekiel Akhulia’s charges will remain perched at the 10th spot, while the Eastlands club is 14th.
