Why wraps are the ultimate low-effort, high-vibe meal
I am into simple yet tasty meals. Think sandwiches, think wraps. Low-effort meals that bring maximum nutrition and vibes.
For me, food should be an adventure, something you enjoy making and eating with minimal dishes to do afterwards.
I am not into glorifying the kitchen struggle. But the way things are set up economically, I can only afford eating out at restaurants or ordering in a maximum of two times a month.
And those two times have to be incredibly close to payday, as most of my paycheck stays at the exchequer’s to pay for roads and the various housing projects around the country rather than feed me, a bouncing baby girl from Nyeri.
Point is, there is nothing easier to make than a wrap. Whether you need a high-protein meal, a vegan meal or something dripping in juices and dressings, wraps have your back.
More than just a wrap
Think a tortilla, roti, chapatti, or lettuce leaf rolled around your choice of fillings, think finger-licking goodness once you settle on toppings.
From juicy meats, fresh vegetables, creamy spreads, to tangy sauces, you can make your one-in-a-million wrap.
The magic lies in the ratio. Too much filling and your wrap explodes and can only be handled by Hulk hands.

Too little and you’re chewing on disappointment. But get it right, and you’re biting into the perfect balance of flavour, texture, and nutrition.
One of the greatest gifts wraps offer is versatility. You can go globe-trotting in your own kitchen without so much as packing a passport.
Fancy a little Mediterranean escape?
Think grilled chicken, hummus, cucumbers, and a zesty tahini drizzle wrapped in soft pita.
Want a Mexican fiesta?
Whip out those black beans, guacamole, salsa, shredded beef and jalapeños.

Craving Asian flair?
Think teriyaki tofu, pickled carrots, cabbage slaw, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds inside a rice paper wrap.
Wrap me up anytime
While most people view wraps as a lunchtime meal or even just a light meal, wraps are an all-time essential.
Think wraps do not belong on the breakfast table? Think again because what’s better than eggs, avocado, crispy bacon, and some sautéed spinach wrapped in a warm tortilla first thing in the morning?
What’s better than having wraps at brunch, or even at dinner, or better still, in the middle of the night when cravings hit and you just have to have a messy, delicious beef wrap?
Wraps are so versatile that you can premake them, stuff them in the fridge and have them whenever and wherever you want.
Wraps are also very nutritious. You can have a glorious buffet of Vitamin C, with a lettuce leaf wrap packed with veggies, or a balanced diet with a chapatti wrap filled with beef and veggies.

You are the chef, so you decide what goes into your wrap. So next time you are hungry, tired, late, or just feeling like you need a bite, reach for a wrap.
It’s quick, it’s comforting, it’s amazing. It is everything nice, simple and glorious, just the way I like it.
Wrap basics
- Warm your wrap before eating, unless it is a lettuce wrap, in which case you are free to indulge even when cold.
- Balance wins every time. Never overstuff or understuff your wraps.
- Do not over-drizzle or overdress your wrap. No one likes a soggy, messy wrap.
- Layer like a pro. Place wetter ingredients in the middle and leafy greens at the bottom to prevent sogginess.
- Wrap tight. Roll it snugly like a burrito, then cut it diagonally. You can use a pick to ensure everything remains in place.
- Play with colour. Use beet wraps, spinach tortillas, red cabbage, carrots and rainbow veggies for visual joy.
- Have a dip on the side for that extra zingy finish.
