Abu Dhabi Marathon

Kenyan duo Barnabas Kiptum and Leonard Barsoton are set to headline the fifth ADNOC Abu Dhabi Marathon 2023.

Kiptum finished first in both the 2019 Hong Kong Marathon and the Buenos Aires Marathon in 2017. Barsoton heads to the Abu Dhabi marathon having set his own personal best of 2:09:06 this year.

The Kenyan duo will be facing stiff competition from Uganda’s Andrew Kwemoi, winner of the 2023 Milano Marathon, who boasts of his personal best of 2:07:14.

An estimated 23,000 runners are expected to take part in various races, including the main marathon – 42.1km, marathon relay, 10km, 5km, and 2.5km races. All races will commence at different locations near the ADNOC headquarters on Corniche Road and finish at the ADNOC Campus, near Bainuna Public Park.

KPL

The Football Kenya Federation Premier League enters week 15 with three matches lined up for Saturday, December 16.

Murang’a Seal, who have dropped to position six following some poor performances in the latest games, will be in Mbaraki to face host Bandari.

Seal will hope to win and close the gap with the leading pack, while Bandari will need a win that will widen the gap between them and their weekend rivals.

Shabana FC will be at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay County to welcome Sofapaka. Batoto ba Mungu, who are struggling with players’ boycotts, have however, eased pressure on their shoulders and moved out of the danger zone.

A win over Shabana, 16th with 11 points, will be a further reprieve for the 2009 champions, who spent most of the opening period of the current campaign in the danger zone.

In the third match on Saturday, Police, who are seventh with 21 points, will host fourth-placed KCB in South B. The Bankers will hope to get a win to reduce the gap between them and the league leaders, Gor Mahia, who have 28 points.
