MPs to visit 4 companies that procure meters for KPLC
The Public Accounts Committee will conduct a site visit to the companies that procure meters for KPLC on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 9am.
This follows the meeting held with four companies on November 23, 2023. During the meeting, it was resolved that the Committee should conduct a site visit to the factories where they manufacture or assemble the meters.
The companies to be visited are Magnate Ventures, M/s Smart Meters Company, Yocean Group Limited, Inhemeter Africa Company and Harley Berry Limited.
Launch of rapid appraisal on gender dimensions in conflict and climate change
Diakonia, a Swedish faith-based development organization, is set to launch the Appraisal Report in Nairobi on Friday, December 8, 2023.
The launch will also commemorate the 16 days of activism whose theme invites all to invest in ending violence against Women and Girls.
The organisation will have women and girls from the conflict and climate change-affected areas of Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet share their experiences that have informed the appraisal report.
The launch will be officiated by The Head of Development Cooperation, Embassy of Sweden, who are the key funders of the Rapid Appraisal and Diakonia’s work in Kenya.
Emergency Medical Technicians graduation
The PS State Department for Public Health and Professional Standards Mary Muthoni Muriuki will grace the Emergency Medical Technicians graduation ceremony for St John’s Ambulance at the Kenya Prisons Staff Training College Ruiru.
A cohort of 100 paramedics will graduate to support the national and county governments’ emergency medical care across the country.
The Emergency Medical Technicians underwent a one-year training program in partnership with KMTC.
Human Rights Defenders Awards ceremony
The Defenders Coalition and the Embassy of Denmark the co-chair of the Working Group on Human Rights Defenders will hold the 8th Human Rights Defenders Awards Ceremony on Friday.
The award is an initiative to honour and recognize the great work done by human rights defenders conceived by the National Coalition of Human Rights Defenders (Defenders Coalition) as a strategy to counter unmitigated public vilification of activists by state and non-state actors.
