AFC Leopards suffered a 2-1 loss in a friendly match against their Football Kenya Federation Premier League rivals KCB in Karen on Saturday, October 18, 2023.

The game against KCB was one of the friendlies Ingwe have engaged in during the ongoing FIFA international window.

Goals

The 1998 Premier League champions got the opening goal in the 28th minute when Brian Yakhama struck, but their lead did not last long as Derrick Otanga scored the equaliser for the home side.

The Bernard Mwalala side kept fighting and scored the winning goal when Musa Masika found the back of the net later.

The win is a big outcome for the Bankers, who have been quite impressive this season. They are currently fourth on the table with 19 points, just three below Posta Rangers, who are leading after matchday 11.

On the other hand, Ingwe are still trying to get their footing in the season after a poor start and are currently 15th on the table with just nine points.

Before restarting their top-flight campaign on November 25, AFC Leopards also faced Kariobangi Sharks and beat them 4-1 before another friendly win against Cigna FC, whom they dispatched by a margin of 12-0.

AFC Leopards’ next games

After the November break, Ingwe will face tougher assignments given that all but one of their six next opponents are above them on the log.

Their first match will be against Sofapaka, who are also struggling in the campaign, before a duel against Tusker. Bidco United, Kakamega Homeboyz, Murang’a Seal, who recently held Gor Mahia to a goalless draw, and Ulinzi Stars will follow in that order in games that will run from November to January 2024.
