Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua yesterday said he will not be intimidated over his defence of allocation of government jobs to those who voted for the Kenya Kwanza administration.

Gachagua maintained he would not apologise for stating that those who voted for President William Ruto and Kenya Kwanza should be given the lion’s share of all key public appointments.

“I will continue fighting for key public appointments to be given to those who voted for President Ruto. I will not be intimidated by the noise,” Rigathi said at Kapsabet Showground in Nandi County.

He maintained his earlier assertion that areas where Ruto got the highest votes get key government positions even as he explained that he was not against the President in ensuring all regions get development projects.

The DP also dismissed claims of a  fallout within the leadership of the  Kenya Kwanza administration.

But Azimio leader Raila Odinga has termed claims by the DP as reckless and divisive and accused the Ruto administration of running an exclusionist administration, only rewarding two regions that heavily voted for them in the 2022 General Election.

Gachagua has constantly said that the national government is like a limited company where those who voted for them are the biggest shareholders and must benefit first.

Odinga has accused the Ruto administration of exclusion and disenfranchising communities that did not vote for them.

But speaking yesterday Gachagua maintained, “The government belongs to those who voted for it, I do not understand why some people are opposed to this fact.”

Political fallout

Gachagua who attended a church service in Nandi County was categorical that Kenyans should not expect political fallout between him and his boss.

According to Gachagua, the Kenya Kwanza government under President Ruto is intact adding that they usually consult on pertinent issues affecting the country.

Gachagua hit out at the opposition over what he called a scheme to bring down the government adding that they will fail in their efforts.

He said that the Kenya Kwanza administration was working round the clock to ensure President Ruto succeeded in fixing the economy and uniting the country.

“We know some people are still living in denial and are working on a plot to bring down President Ruto government because they have never accepted Ruto as the President. Let me assure them that they will not succeed in their evil plans,” said Gachagua.

Fix country’s problems

He said the government was determined to fix problems facing the country adding that they will not be intimidated by the opposition.

“Those imagining that there will be political fallout are daydreamers. We have no problem with the president touring opposition strongholds. In fact, the head of state will tomorrow chair a Cabinet meeting in Kisumu city,” said the DP.

The  DP   explained he focuses more on uniting and working with all leaders and voters in Mt Kenya and in Rift Valley so that come the 2027 General Election the President would get 100 percent of all total votes in the two regions with over 10 million votes from across Kenya.

“The Nandi community for instance voted for President Ruto and l should not complain of missing some projects. They deserve to get whatever they want from the State since they are the greatest shareholders under Kenya Kwanza regime,” added the DP.

Projects

He was accompanied by Nandi leaders led by Governor Stephen Sang and Bishop Dr Paul Korir and ACK Plaza Project coordinator David Lang’at and Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka who asked Kenyans to rally behind the President in fixing problems facing the country.

Sang told the DP to ignore critics who have been questioning why he was making frequent visits to Nandi County than any other region in Kenya.

He stated that the local community has produced three heads of Civil Service including Dr Sally Kogei, the late Joseph Letting and now Felix Koskei while  Kapsabet  Boys High School produced two Presidents  Daniel Moi and President Ruto.

Outspoken Nandi Senator Samson Cheragei claimed some leaders and the ODM Party are in panic after witnessing huge crowds which turned up to welcome President Ruto in Nyanza which he said ‘was a sign of good things to come for UDA government’.

Gachagua has of late come under fire over his stakeholder remarks which have been viewed as a scheme to sideline other parts of the country in the distribution of public resources and government appointments.
