Kenya U20 captaincy exchange
Wamalwa takes over the captaincy from Laban Kipsang, who led the team during the Rugby Africa Barthes Cup held at the same venue.
As the captains gathered in the heart of Nairobi, Kenya, with the highly coveted World Rugby U20 Trophy silverware, Wamalwa spoke about the significance of leading his country’s team on home soil and in front of their passionate fans.
He expressed his deep appreciation for this opportunity and emphasized that this would be a memory he would cherish for a lifetime.
Wamalwa acknowledged the privilege of donning the national colours and representing Kenya on the global stage, acknowledging that many aspiring athletes long for such an opportunity.
“It is a great feeling captaining this team on home soil, and in front of our home fans. This is one memory that I will cherish for the rest of my life. The fact that we are donning the national colours in front of our own fans … many long for this moment and we are honoured to be representing the country on the global stage,” Wamalwa stated.
