Outgoing Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) governor Patrick Njoroge has shared notable moments during his stint as CBK governor.

Through a statement shared via his official Twitter account, Njoroge termed his 8-year term as ‘intense’ and acknowledged that he waved through massive challenges with courage and diligence through the support of Kenyans.

His parting shot to Kenyans was a link to Brothers in arms title ‘in dire straits’.

“Leaving @CBKKenya after 8 intense years. We faced massive challenges with courage and diligence. We leave behind a world-class central bank at the heart of a vibrant and innovative financial system. Thank y’all! Cue in “Brothers in Arms” by Dire Straits. Exiting stage left…,” he wrote.

Njoroge has served as CBK governor since June 19, 2015, following his appointment by former Head of State Uhuru Kenyatta on June 2, 2015.

He will be succeeded by Kamau Thugge who is set to assume office on Monday, June 19, 2023.

Njoroge will be remembered for creating a friendly banking ecosystem in the country and enhancing access to affordable and appropriate banking services.
