Legislator wants teachers in Lari paid hardship allowance
Lari MP Mburu Kahangara has called upon the government to classify the sub county as a hardship area. He said the area experiences long cold seasons, making it less conducive for human habitation.
The MP said most civil servants deployed in the area hardly settle before seeking transfers thereby denying residents crucial government services. Kahangara (pictured) said that hardest hit is the education sector.
“I am sending a passionate appeal to the government to consider classifying Lari as a hardship area in order to encourage teachers posted in our schools to stay despite the harsh weather conditions,” he said.
The MP was speaking at Lari Boys High School during an education day. During the event, schools which posted good grades in national examinations were feted.
