Gachagua also in legal battle for Ksh1.5b city land
Rigathi Gachagua is no stranger to the corridors of justice.
Yesterday, a Nairobi court ordered the UDA presidential running mate to forfeit over Sh200 million in his bank accounts. The judge said the money was proceeds of crime.
The decision came just days after Gachagua obtained orders from the Environment and Lands Court in relation to the ownership of a Sh1.5 billion piece of land in Embakasi, Nairobi.
In the case, Gachagua — through Wamunyoro Investment Limited — has sued former director of physical planning at the Ministry of Lands John Michael Ohas, his company Columbus Two Thousand Ltd and Land Chief Registrar over alleged illegal transfer of the land.
Registered owner
Justice Oguttu Mboya certified the matter as urgent and directed the application to be heard inter partes on September 26.
“Ohas and his company, Colombus Two Thousand Ltd, have illegally and fraudulently obtained a second title deed on the suit property while Wamunyoro title is still in existence and have deliberately tempered with the records at the lands office in respect of the suit property such that any official search on the suit property currently indicates that Colombus is the registered owner of the property,” reads part of court papers by Gachagua.
Through his lawyer, Philip Nyachoti, the Mathira MP has accused Ohas of causing a parallel title to be irregularly and unlawfully issued to Colombus.
