A billboard campaign poster for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has been vandalized ahead of a planned rally by Raila Odinga in Gatundu South.

The Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition presidential candidate is campaigning in Kiambu today July 6, 2022, after touring the neighbouring Nyeri county a day earlier.

Raila and his running mate Martha Karua are on a charm offensive mission in the Mt. Kenya region. They will campaign in Kiambu today before they proceed to Kirinyaga county tomorrow.

Outgoing Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria blamed Kiambu Deputy Governor Joyce Ngugi and another politician Njinji Murigi for the vandalism of the UDA campaign poster.

Ngugi is vying for Gatundu South MP seat on a Jubilee party ticket while Murigi is seeking the same seat as an Independent candidate. The two are allied to Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition.

Kuria claims that Ngugi and Murigi are behind the destruction of the UDA campaign billboard in Gatundu. He sarcastically called on Raila to advise the two not to associate with his ‘core values’ of uprooting railway lines.

“Dear Raila Odinga, welcome to the great Gatundu today my friend. Ujisikie uko nyumbani na ujitetee kwa watu wangu. Sisi ni wapenda wageni na wapenda amani. But please advise your two candidates Joyce Ngugi and Njinji Murigi they don’t have to Ng’oa reli just to associate with your core values. See what they were doing overnight,” Moses Kuria wrote on Facebook.
