Police in Nyali sub-county in Mombasa have identified two suspects in connection to the burglary of Nyali National Government Constituencies Development Fund offices on Sunday night.

The duo gained access to the offices after jumping over a fence and later stole unknown property.

Sub-County Police Commander Daniel Masaba said analysis of CCTV footage had enabled detectives to establish identity of the two suspects. He also said they are waiting for directives from Nairobi Forensic Laboratory to finalise investigations.

“There are details we are gathering before we move in and arrest the duo. We now want to compare fingerprints recovered from the scene of crime to the duo believed to have been captured by the CCTV camera,” Masaba said.

He, however, declined to name the suspects, saying releasing their names would jeopardise ongoing investigations.

Nyali MP Mohamed Ali claimed the suspects were targeting his office, since he had disclosed details on the transfer of Mombasa Port during Saturday’s Tononoka rally where he disclosed information indicating how a family in Mombasa is benefiting from the port.
