Raila is likely to betray Uhuru – Kalonzo
Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has once again come out to show that he still has trust issues with ODM leader Raila Odinga despite agreeing to support his presidential bid in the coming elections.
Speaking in an interview with a local vernacular station, Kalonzo warned President Uhuru Kenyatta to be careful with handling Raila who he claimed cannot be trusted in keeping deals.
The Wiper boss said that if the Head of State doesn’t tighten the loopholes in his negotiations with Raila, the ODM boss is likely to betray him after winning the presidency in the August general election.
“Unless it is the calibre of Kalonzo, who is God-fearing, anyone else armed with instruments of power as the next president may change such that President Uhuru would be required to book an appointment in a month to see the president,” Kalonzo said.
He, however, noted that such betrayals can only be prevented if leaders within the Azimio la Umoja movement and One Kenya Alliance have an extensive talk in the formation of the Azimio-OKA coalition, a grand coalition he has been pushing for.
Drawing lessons from the diplomatic mission that he accomplished in the Democratic Republic of Congo which involved President Felix Tshisekendi and his predecessor Joseph Kabila during a transition period in 2019, Kalonzo also termed his endorsement to Raila as the most difficult thing he had to do.
“When I reconciled President Kabila and President Tshisekedi, they formed a coalition like the Azimio-OKA grand coalition. A year later, they called me telling me that they wanted to end the historical injustices that have been between their families. They told me: ‘You see President Laurent Kabila, father of Joseph Kabila, accused Tshisekedi Etienne, President Tshisekedi’s father to go into exile in Brussels where he died and we want to reconcile our families.
“Does that sound familiar in Kenya? We witness them sign a deal but a year later, the line falls apart,” Kalonzo said as reported by Daily Nation.
