Espresso yourself: How to make dirty chai
Dirty chai is basically a tea-coffee drink, the way mocha is a chocolate-coffee drink. Also known as espresso chai or java chai, it’s all about adding a shot of espresso to masala tea.
If coffee, which tends to be strong, is not your cup of, well, tea, but you still would like to indulge in a bit of it, drinks such as this and the mocha come in handy.
While tea is always great served hot, the iced version is awesome for a hot afternoon to relax and cool off. What’s more, the fragrant spiciness adds even more flavour to up the ante in your drink.
And the flavour is not the only reason we love to indulge in niceties; they get extra brownie points if they come with some health benefits. Tea’s well-known antioxidant properties, potassium for healthy blood vessels, as well as polyphenols for good gut health are all great incentives. Not to mention, it’s also an energy booster, and even more when coupled with some coffee.
You can get an iced dirty chai latte at a coffee shop, but even better, make yourself a cuppa at home.
