Former Football Kenya Federation Women Premier League (FKF-WPL) sides Makolanders, Mathare United Women, Kibera Girls Soccer, Eldoret Falcons, Oserian Ladies, and Sep Oyugis are all set to start life in the FKF Women Division One League that kicks off today.

Makolanders who were relegated last season after 28 years in the women’s topflight football, start life in unchartered territory when they host Soccer Sisters at Camp Toyoyo Stadium in Jericho and head coach Michael Okanga has challenged his players to show the urge to get back to the premier league.

“It’s a new experience playing down here and my thinking is, we can match the challenges and hopefully get back to the top-flight football next season.

Coach Florence Dua and I are building a new young team, and our target is to go back to the premier league by end of the season,” Okanga told People Sports.

Mathare Women and Kibera Girls Soccer have similar ambitions and are also kicking off their campaigns at home as they host Limuru Starlets and Mukuru Talent respectively at MYSA Komarock Ground and NCC Ngong Road, while Mombasa Ladies will be hosting Sunderland Samba at Makande Primary School.
