Society 43 Football Club from Mwarki Ward are the new Nakuru West CDF Cup champions
Society, who were knocked out in the round of 16 in the previous edition, gunned down Payi from Shabab Ward 2-0 courtesy of two goals from Fredrick Oduor and Jacob Mayom to emerge the new champions and take home Sh50,000 and kits from the area MP Samuel Arama.
“Congratulations to winners and those that didn’t win this year, we’re all winners because as you are aware, the aim of this tournament is to nurture talent and encourage youth to engage more in sporting activities and refrain from drugs and other crime in Nakuru West,” said Hon Arama.
Payi finished second to pocket Sh30,000 while Fagarian FC from Kaptembwa ward came third to win Sh20,000 as Amuta from Mwariki finished fourth to walk away with Sh10,000.
Other teams that won include Nakuru West Sitting volleyball team (disability), Heshima Primary School youth team and Muslim Primary School volleyball team.
In the individual awards, Leonard Otieno from AsecFC and David Wachira from champions Society 43 FC tied on six goals to win the golden boots with Peter Juma of Amuta FC emerging the tournament’s best goalkeeper.
“We’re happy with the tournament’s progress. Its purpose to promote young upcoming teams and as part of sporting activities fully funded by two percent CDF kitty,” said tournament coordinator Robert Maeri who is also the chairman of Nakuru West Soccer Development.
