Kileleshwa Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai has told off critics who are wishing for the fall of Kenya’s candidate for the upcoming February 2025 African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship polls, Raila Odinga.
Taking to his official X account on Sunday, November 10, 2024, Alai told Raila’s critics to stop imagining his fall in the race.
Alai on Raila’s bid
According to Alai, those who are wishing for Raila to fail in his AUC chairmanship bid should be more worried.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) lawmaker went ahead to argue that those wishing for Raila’s loss are holding on hopes that the former Prime Minister will fall out with President William Ruto.
Alai on Raila-Ruto relationship
However, the politician-cum blogger says should Raila fail to get the AUC chairmanship seat, his relationship with President Ruto might grow stronger.
“Those who want Baba Raila Odinga to fail in getting the AUC seat needs to be worried more. They hope that if Baba doesn’t get the seat, they will fight with William Ruto. Let me tell you a secret, Baba not getting the AUC will bring him even closer to Ruto. Stop having these imaginations,” Alai stated.

Stop having…
Raila joined hands with President William Ruto following a dialogue that preceded the widespread anti-government protests in June and July 2024.
Their bromance saw four members from Raila’s ODM party join President Ruto’s Cabinet.
President Ruto could then unveil Raila as Kenya’s AUC candidate at an event that was held at State House, Nairobi.
Raila’s campaign
Raila has continued to push for his bid to win the African Union Commission (AUC) chairmanship as he further detailed his broad vision for the continent.
On Saturday, November 9, Raila met with development partners for Africa, an event that was also attended by the Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi, and the former Premier used it to advance his bid for the AUC post.
He also said that he believes he can help Africa achieve peace, integration, and prosperity.
“I recognize the important role that multilateral relationships play in achieving our objectives as enshrined in Agenda 2063.
“I am persuaded that my vision and priorities will propel Africa to a new era of sustainable peace, continental integration, shared prosperity, and meaningful partnerships. Excellencies, I will be available. My doors will be open. Let us work together for Africa’s prosperity for the global good,” Raila said during the event held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
