Sofapaka will continue with their revival to stay in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League when they take on FC Talanta in one of the nine matches lined up across the country tomorrow and Sunday.

Batoto ba Mungu, who looked dead and buried at the first half stage of the league, have been a rejuvenated side since coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno took charge, as they have won three matches and lost one from the last four to move from the relegation zone and sit 14th on the 18-team table with 23 points. ‘Zico’, who came in on a permanent deal to replace Ezekiel Akwana, who was retained as his assistant, started with a 3-1 win against Bidco United, lost 1-0 against Tusker, recovered to edge out Kakamega Homeboyz 1-0 and floored his former employers KCB 2-1.

On Sunday, Sofapaka will hope to make it two wins out of two against a Talanta side, who have lost their last two matches – 5-3 against Bidco United and 1-0 against Ulinzi Stars. ‘Zico’ is, however, confident that his charges will produce another victory as he strives to help the team keep their status in the top flight for next season.

“We are taking it a game at a time, so far so good if you ask me, we won three and lost one under my reign and we want to keep the winning run going,” said the former Harambee Stars coach.

“My new signings have gelled in well, we are still a team in progress but I am very happy they (new players) are grasping whatever I tell them and integrating well, so next is Talanta, it will be a difficult game, Talanta have lost their last two matches and will want to win, but we are ready to go for the maximum points.”

In another key match set for Sunday, Tusker will be seeking revenge when they travel to face Shabana, who beat them 1-0 in the first-round meeting at Homabay Stadium.

Apart from eying revenge against Tore Bobe, the Brewers, who are placed sixth on the log with 31 points, will also be keen to return to winning ways having lost their last fixture 1-0 against Bidco United.

In-form AFC Leopards will also be in action on Sunday seeking to make it five wins out of five against a Murang’a Seal side, who had forced them to a 1-1 draw in the first meeting at SportsPesa Arena on December 20.

Ingwe’s winning streak has seen them move from the relegation zone are currently lying 10 with 27 points, while Murang’a are 12th with 24 points. Tomorrow, after losing their 19-game unbeaten run in a 3-1 mauling against Kenya Police, reigning champions Gor Mahia will face another uphill task against Ulinzi Stars, Posta Rangers will come up against Police, while Bandari will host Nairobi City Stars.
