We can’t accept mediocrity- President Kagame demands action after Arsenal’s humiliating defeat to Brentford

Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame has called for reforms at Arsenal Football Club following their humiliating defeat to Brentford on Friday, August 13.
Brentford, who last played a Premier League match 74 years ago before playing Arsenal on Friday, remarkably begun their season by beating the Gunners 2-1.
The humiliating defeat forced President Kagame to join millions of Arsenal fans across the world in airing their pent-up frustrations on how their favourite club is being run.
Kagame appeared to fault the club’s manager Mikel Arteta for the loss and challenged the management to swing into action and take necessary action to salvage the already deteriorating situation.
“We just must NOT excuse or Accept mediocrity. A team has to be built with a purpose to win-win-win. So that when we lose…it was not to be expected! I am sure we all know on whose shoulders the heaviest burden rests. I hope they know too or even accept it!” He tweeted.
According to Kagame, whose country is one of the official jersey sponsors of Arsenal under the Visit Rwanda campaign, the London-based club needs a fresh idea and plan on how to redeem itself from a decade of unsatisfactory performance.
“It’s been a struggle of about decade(s) -ups and downs-more downs until this point. Can’t we have a plan that really works? One part to look at is how we deal in the market- players we buy to execute the plan. The touch and go mentality do not bring change,” President Kagame added.
He praised Brentford for putting up a spirited fight that gave them a deserved win which he said is a wake-up call for the need to have reforms at the club.
“What?? It’s football, it’s a loss of Arsenal at/to Brentford. Brentford deserved to win and they did. The game itself aside Arsenal and the fans don’t deserve to kind of get used to this….NO!!! I say this as one of the big fans of Arsenal. The change has taken too long to come!” He noted.
The Friday defeat now leaves Arsenal trailing at the bottom of the table even as more matches are scheduled for this Saturday.
