Tusker’s technical bench facing sack after AFC Leopards’ humiliation
By Joel Masibo, January 12, 2026Technical bench changes are imminent at the Football Kenya Federation Premier League side, Tusker FC, after the club shipped in four goals against AFC Leopards in a league fixture staged at the Nyayo National Stadium on Sunday, January 11, 2026.
After the thorough beating at the hands of Ingwe, Tusker FC Chairman Charles Gacheru has announced that changes will be made to the team’s technical bench following Sunday’s beating.
Shaky start
The Brewers started the season on a shaky note, registering mixed results at the onset of the 2025/26 campaign. At the final whistle on Sunday, Gacheru said the club had given the technical team sufficient time and support to put the side on a steady path toward the KPL title, but results have continued to fall short.
He cites inconsistency in the league as the main reason the management is looking at other options. Head coach Charles Okere leads the technical bench of Tusker FC.
“We have been patient and provided every support needed, but we are still losing matches and failing to find consistency. At this point, change is inevitable,” he said.
He also congratulated AFC Leopards on their victory, their second win on the bounce and without conceding. The win stretched the AFC Leopard’s leadership to 30 points in 16 outings.

Samuel Ssenyonjo grabbed a hat-trick while Ronald Sichenje also got on the scoresheet to hand Ingwe the biggest win of the season so far. Gacheru added that Tusker cannot afford to be a target of rivals based on its rich history and strong brand.
Big brand
“Tusker FC is a club with a rich history and a strong brand. We cannot allow it to become an easy target for teams in the league. We must act to restore the club’s standards and competitiveness.”
The defeat saw Tusker FC drop to fourth on the log with 24 points, six fewer than AFC Leopards, who are seemingly looking forward to winning their first league title since 1998.
