Tusker signs winger Yakeen Muteheli from Ulinzi Stars
By Luke Oluoch, July 26, 2025Tusker FC has signed highly-rated winger Yakeen Muteheli, who joins after a stint with Football Federation Premier League rivals Ulinzi Stars.
Muteheli has agreed to a two-year contract with the Ruaraka-based club, becoming the third signing by Charles Okere’s team.
“Tusker FC is delighted to announce the signing of talented winger Yakeen Muteheli from Ulinzi Stars FC on a two-year contract,” a statement from the club read.
Muteheli, acclaimed for his pace, creativity, and powerful shots off the flanks, the Brewers’ new boy will fill the void left at the team following a major restructuring that saw the club release seven players after the 2025 season.
The former Arsenal Lirhembe and Vickers FC attacker was instrumental in Ulinzi Stars’ campaign last season.
Impressive debut
In only his debut in the top-flight league, Muteheli was directly involved in 10 goals, scoring five and assisting as many goals in the campaign.
The feat saw him earn the nod of coach Benni McCarthy, who called him up to Kenya’s preliminary squad for the 2024 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in May.
Coach Okere hailed the acquisition of a player he lauded for his ability to take on defenders.
Okere stated that the winger brings just what the club has been lacking ahead of the new season.
“Yakeen is a dynamic and intelligent player who will undoubtedly add value to our team. His ability to take on defenders and deliver in the final third is something we’ve been keen to add, and we are pleased to have him on board,” the coach said.
Ready for brewers
On his part, Muteheli expressed his excitement at joining a club of Brewers’ stature.
“I’m honoured to join a club of Tusker’s stature. This is a great opportunity for me to grow as a player and contribute to the team’s goals. I’m looking forward to giving my best and helping bring success to the club,” he said.

Muteheli’s acquisition follows after the club confirmed the return of striker Erick Kapaito ahead of the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season.
In a move aimed at significantly strengthening their attacking force, the two-time FKF Premier League Golden Boot winner, has rejoined the Brewers on a one-year deal after a brief stint with Namungo FC in Tanzania.
Kapaito initially left the club at the end of the 2023/24 season after scoring 12 goals, but the void he left in the forward line was evident during the second leg of last season, where the team struggled to maintain momentum.
