Tusker FC raid Ulinzi for midfielder Issa Lumumba
By Joel Masibo, August 26, 2025Former Football Kenya Premier League outfit Tusker FC has announced the signing of midfielder Issa Lumumba from Ulinzi Stars.
The Brewers have added Lumumba to their fold in a bid to strengthen their midfield and bolster the squad for the new season. The midfielder joins Tusker on a one-year contract.
Taking to their official social media pages on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Tusker confirmed that Lumumba joined an already strong department, adding more depth and steel to the squad ahead of the new campaign. The midfielder has been a consistent performer for the soldiers and is expected to bring both energy and creativity into the Ruaraka-based squad.

Speaking after sealing the move, Lumumba, who has already started training with his new teammates, expressed his excitement at joining the 13-time Kenyan champions.
“I am very happy to be here and ready to give my best. I want to help the team achieve its goals and also grow as a player. This is a club with a lot of demands and a club which regularly competes for the title, and for any player, you want to be in such an environment,” he said.
“There is a lot of competition in my position, and that is something that really excites me because I will grow both as a player and a person, and these guys will get the best out of me.”
Okere’s sentiments
On his part, Tusker head coach Charles Okere welcomed the addition, praising Lumumba’s quality and work rate.
“Issa is a player who will bring a lot to the team. His experience in the league and his ability to control the midfield will be very valuable for us as we head into the season. He compliments a lot on what we have and this gives us as coaches options to work with,” the coach remarked via the club’s official website.
He will link up with his former teammate at Ulinzi, winger Yakeen Muteheli, who joined early on just before the start of pre-season. Issa Lumumba joins Tusker amid the departure of the club’s reliable, Harambee Stars defender Michael Kibwage, who ditched the side for record FKF Premier League side Gor Mahia.
Tusker FC will take on KCB in the curtain-raiser of the 2025/2026 FKF Premier League season on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Nyayo National Stadium, kicking off at 1:00 pm.
