Tusker FC defender Boniface Onyango is confident of the team’s abilities ahead of their meeting with Gor Mahia in the FKF Premier League.

The two giants face off this Saturday at Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos and Onyango revealed that they have gained a lot of confidence heading into the clash.

Tusker recent form

He cites their recent form where they have scored more than two goals as a source of confidence and the preparations they have had before the match.

The defender is aware of the threat Gor Mahia will pose but he believes his teammates are ready to provide answers.

“So far, our preparations have been good. Each and every person is focused on the next game. The match is a test of mental strength, and I believe we are ready for it,” Onyango told Tusker TV.

“We have gained a lot of confidence going into the match. In the last two games, we’ve scored more goals than our opponents in tomorrow’s match. We can score even more,”  he added.

Gor Mahia vs Tusker

Heading to the match, Gor Mahia are unbeaten in the top tier and have won the last four matches without conceding a goal. They last conceded a goal in their 2-2 draw against Nzoia Sugar in December 2023.

Despite these intimidating statistics, Onyango feels they can still beat Gor Mahia as they are equally strong.

On the other hand, Tusker are on an eight-match unbeaten run and have won the last five league matches scoring 14 goals.

“I think from their side, they also have had a good run. They are confident. But again, if they are facing a strong team like Tusker, and we are more compact, I think we will come out stronger than them. Yes, for sure, in Saturday’s match we have to win to reduce the gap between us and them,” he added.

In the recent meetings, Gor Mahia have 10 wins, 11 matches have ended in draws, and Tusker have grabbed eight wins.
