Despite experiencing limited playtime, Tusker FC striker Eric Otieno believes that the intense competition for positions within the team has strengthened the side..
According to Otieno, having multiple strong players competing for each position is essential for the team’s progress and overall performance.
Otieno’s chances at Tusker
Although he has had few opportunities to showcase his skills this season, Otieno views these challenges as valuable learning experiences.
After recently featuring in a Cup match, he is eager to secure a permanent spot in the team.
“Competition is very strong especially in the striking department where we are almost five players. But as a team that is healthy because everyone works to get a place in the team,” Otieno shared with Tusker Media.
Having played for 45 minutes in the recent 2-1 victory against Bumbani Stars in Ukunda, Otieno has earned a spot in the matchday squad travelling to Kericho for Saturday’s FKF Premier League match against Muhoroni Youth.
“I was delighted to get a chance in Ukunda and once again, if I get minutes in the Muhoroni match, I will do my best to help the team win,” he expressed.
“We have prepared well as a team and the spirit is really great. We are coming off a run of three wins and that really propels us well,” he added.
Tusker’s fine run
Despite their recent winning streak, Otieno emphasizes the importance of caution against Muhoroni Youth, acknowledging their potential as formidable opponents.
“Last season we came here and they beat us 2-1 and they were in the bottom side of the standings so it is not a team we can take lightly. They are a very tough opponent, especially in their backyard so we have to be ready,” Otieno concluded.
