The Football Kenya Federation-Transition Committee has enacted a raft of changes in the National Super League standings after its Appeals Committee closed some pending cases which altered the standings with only one match left to play.

APS Bomet can confirm its participation in the second-tier league with a game to go as they are now on 70 points following its appeal against Coastal Heroes who fielded an ineligible player (Mohamed Abeid) a loan returnee from Bandari FC in the second leg.

The South Rift-based side picked three easy points from the case. Fortune Sacco are now up to second place with 66 points after being awarded six points against Mully Children’s Family (MCF) and Shabana FC.

Sacco who face off relegation-bound Gusii FC, are now two points ahead of neighbours and rivals Muranga Seal on 64 points who face champions-elect APS away at Bomet.

Fortune Sacco had their first three points at Migori when Shabana did not show up arguing the start time was beyond the required time.

The match was slated for 5pm as opposed to 3pm due to playground unavailability. Initially, the match had been awarded to Shabana but that decision was reversed by the IDAC.

A controversy arose during the duel between MCF and Fortune Sacco where a penalty was awarded prompting Mully’s side to walk out in protest.

The trio of Fortune Sacco, Muranga Seal and Muhoroni Youth FC have been interchanging positions where the last dance this weekend is expected to draw cheers and tears even as the latter team is formally out of the equation for direct promotion.

The sugar belt side under Joseph Ongere have 18 wins in 35 matches. However, with the playoffs looming, the team in fourth place with 62 points will be out to beat sixthplaced by a sizable margin and hope that the Seal will falter so that they get a chance at fighting for promotion.

Coach Nichodemus Omasete believes that on the final day different things can happen but urged his charges to stay in the frame.
